Q01

Do I need to study finance or economics?

No. The Fund is open to every enrolled RHUL student, whatever their degree. We care about curiosity, rigour and commitment.

Q02

How much time does it take?

Around 6-8 hours a week during term, including bi-weekly research meetings on campus (with an online option).

Q03

Is it real money?

Yes. The Fund manages a real portfolio through a brokerage account held under RHUL's institutional framework, with the Academic Adviser as authorised signatory.

Q04

Do members get paid or share in profits?

No. The Fund is strictly non-profit. Once at scale, up to 30% of realised net profits may go to RHUL hardship and access support.

Q05

What do the interviews involve?

A get-to-know conversation, then a second interview with five practical questions. Clear reasoning matters more than technical knowledge.

Q06

Which year groups can apply?

All year groups, undergraduate and postgraduate, as long as you're an enrolled Royal Holloway student.

Q07

What can't the Fund invest in?

Derivatives, leverage, crypto, unlisted securities, fossil fuels, armaments, gambling, adult entertainment and tobacco. See the full rules.
